Dr. Baumgarten is a seasoned executive coach and talent leader helping high achieving professionals and organizations Lead Confidently™. With over 20 years of experience, she has advised senior leaders as well as designed and developed numerous award-winning people programs that have increased performance, opportunity, equity, career growth and personal fulfillment for early and mid career professionals, senior leaders, women, and underrepresented talent.
Prior to founding Beam Leadership, Maryann was a talent executive and people leader in tech and academia. She was most recently Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Meta (formerly Facebook) where she and her team partnered closely with the most senior leaders at the company to develop and scale DEI across the organization among hypergrowth. Before Meta, Maryann built and led the DEI practice at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory at Stanford University and spent 14 years at Microsoft where she last led global curriculum development for Microsoft’s “MACH” talent development program - and saw exponential increase in performance of participants vs non participants.
Her work has been featured in several publications including textbooks, Workforce Magazine and Talent Management Magazine. She is also the author of “Engage: How Leaders Bring More Energy into Work and Life.” Maryann holds 5 academic degrees in social science including a PhD in Human and Organizational Systems and certifications in executive coaching from Fielding Graduate University and International Coaching Federation (ICF).
